3.2 How to Use the Action Module and Create Objectives and Actions
Turn your strategy into action — Step by step
What You’re Going to Do
In this chapter, you'll create a structured action plan to turn your sustainability priorities into measurable progress. Each action is connected to your material topics and is broken into clear steps with responsible people and timelines.
Here’s an example of how it all fits together:
| Level | Example |
|---|---|
| Priority | S1 – Own Workforce |
| Objective | Improve employee well-being and retention |
| Action | Introduce scheduled quiet hours and promote flexible working arrangements |
| Expected Outcome | Reduced stress and increased productivity and job satisfaction |
| Tasks | - Define quiet hours policy - Communicate policy to all teams - Monitor and evaluate uptake |
How to Do It – Step by Step
1. Go to the Dashboard
Log in to Klappir‑Strategy and start from the main dashboard.
2. Click “Actions”
Open the Action module from the left-hand menu or tile on the dashboard.
Here you will:
-
Create an Objective – Describe your sustainability goal
-
Add Actions – Define specific initiatives to achieve your objective
-
Break Actions into Tasks – Assign step-by-step implementation details
3. Create an Objective
An Objective defines your overall goal for the topic.
-
Press “Add Objective”
-
Fill in:
-
Objective (e.g. “Improve workforce well-being”)
-
Expected outcome (what success looks like and link to sustainability issue / policy)
-
Priority (e.g. Own workforce)
-
Lead individual
-
Responsible department
- Start and End date
-

4. Add Actions
Each Objective can include multiple Actions.
-
Press on Activities tab to create Actions. Note - Here you can write directly in to the fields by clicking on the textbox.

-
Assign responsible person
-
Add internal notes (if needed)
-
💡 Use the “Save Action” button to complete each entry.

5. Break Actions into Tasks (Optional)
If the Action is complex, divide it into smaller steps. To add Tasks you need to press on the Pen to the left (Edit Activity).

-
Press on the“Tasks” tab and "Click here to add a new item"
- You can add a Responsible person to the task and Date when it should be complete

You’ll then get a full overview of all Actions and Tasks, and can mark them complete as progress is made. Just click on the status and change tasks from Incomplete to Complete and Actions from Not started to Started - Good progress - Completed.

And remember - you can click in to the textbox to add or change the text. To add or update Tasks or Evidence you need to press on the pen to the left and select the Evidence tab or Task tab.

Best Practice Tips
-
Start small and grow – Add key objectives first, then build detailed actions over time
- Through Expected Outcome:
-
Connect to material topics – Ensure each Objective and Action supports a topic marked material in Step 1.
-
Connect to policies – Show that actions are part of a structured response to policy commitments.
-
How This Supports ESG Ratings and Reporting
| Framework | Why Actions Matter |
|---|---|
| ESRS GOV‑3 (July 2025 draft) | Requires organisations to explain how sustainability policies are implemented through actions |
| VSME | Asks companies to describe actions taken or planned for each applicable topic |
| ESG Ratings (e.g. EcoVadis, CDP, Sustainalytics) | Reward structured action plans, follow-up measures, and traceability of improvements |
Outcome of Step 3.2
By completing this step, you will have:
-
Entered your first Objectives, Actions, and optional Tasks
-
Linked actions to material topics and policies in expected outcome
-
Set up your foundation for target-setting (Step 4) and reporting (Step 6)
